Guideline, Rules, Regulations, and Suggestions

A panel of distinguished professionals, distinct from the festival’s organization, forms a jury to assess entries based on technical proficiency, narrative prowess, artistic impact, and originality. In the pursuit of excellence, we present a set of criteria and guidelines for filmmakers to ensure a fair and exhilarating competition.

Criteria
  • LOTUS TROPHIES AND PLAQUES
    Awards await the deserving, including the prestigious Lotus Trophy for the Best Film, Lotus Plaque for the Best Director, and acknowledgments for outstanding screenwriting, artistic impression, and cinematography.
  • USE OF ARCHIVAL FOOTAGE
    Permitted with copyright clearance for storytelling but restricted for non-smartphone filming.
  • AI RESTRICTION
    Human creativity takes center stage; no AI involvement in screenplays, filmmaking, or photography.
  • LANGUAGE INCLUSIVITY
    Films in any language are welcome, with English subtitles for non-English entries.
  • SUBMISSION LIMITS
    A maximum of three works per artist for a seamless upload process.
  • QUALITY STANDARDS
    High-resolution submissions in accepted formats ensure optimal visual impact.
  • FINAL VERSION POLICY
    Only completed works accepted; no work-in-progress submissions.
  • DURATION LIMITS
    Short films and Cinephone films have respective time caps of 10 and 3 minutes.
  • ORIGINALITY MANDATE
    Entries must be the original work of the artist, fostering creativity and authenticity.
  • MATERIAL USAGE
    Festival reserves the right for promotional and archival purposes, ensuring filmmakers’ privacy and consent.
For our smartphone auteurs, the Cinephone Film category opens avenues for innovative storytelling. Key criteria include:
  • SMARTPHONE REQUIREMENT
    Filming exclusively with smartphones, specifying brand and model is crucial.
  • USE OF EXTERNAL ELEMENTS
    Inclusive of external elements during filming and post-production editing software.
  • CONSENT AND DIGNITY
    All people and private spaces must have consent, and discriminatory content is not accepted.
  • OWNERSHIP AND ORIGINALITY
    Films must be owned by the author, unpublished, and feature original music or soundtrack.
  • CAMERA AND EDITING FREEDOM
    No limits on the number of cameras used, and various editing methods are accepted.
  • ORIGINAL MUSIC MANDATE
    Use original music or obtain necessary permissions for copyrighted music.
  • QUALITY STANDARDS
    Minimum quality of 1080p in accepted formats (mov, wmv, avi, mp4).
